Neuropsychological Evaluations for Adults
You have probably been wondering about this for a long time. Many of the adults I evaluate come in with a question they have carried since school: why things that look routine for other people cost them so much more effort, and whether there is a name for it. An evaluation answers that question with data rather than guesswork, and it gives you something concrete to do with the answer.
Who this is for
Adults who suspect ADHD, autism, or a learning difference that was never identified, or was identified in childhood and never properly explained.
Adults returning to college or graduate school who need documentation for accommodations.
Adults whose therapist or psychiatrist wants a clearer picture before changing a treatment plan.
Parents who recognized themselves while their child was being evaluated.
What the evaluation covers
Every evaluation is built around your question, but a typical adult battery looks at reasoning and problem-solving, attention and working memory, processing speed, executive functioning (planning, switching, inhibition), academic skills where relevant, social communication, sensory processing, and mood. You will also complete rating scales, and with your permission I may ask someone who knows you well to complete a parallel set. That cross-check is often where the most useful information comes from.
What you receive
A written report that explains what was found and why it matters, with diagnostic impressions where the data support them, and specific recommendations for work, school, treatment, and daily life.
A feedback session where we go through the findings together and you can ask anything.
A letter supporting accommodations, when the findings warrant one.
How it works
Intake call (free, 20 minutes): we talk about your question and whether an evaluation is the right next step. Sometimes it isn’t, and I will tell you.
Clinical interview: your history, in your words.
Testing (two sessions, typically 2–3 hours each): in person at the Folsom or Napa office. Breaks whenever you need them.
Feedback (60 minutes, in person or video): results, the report, and what to do next.
From intake to feedback usually runs 6-8 weeks. The report is delivered at the feedback session.
Fees
Adult evaluations are private-pay. The fee covers the interview, all testing sessions, scoring, the written report, the Highlights summary, and the feedback session. You receive a superbill with CPT codes to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement; many plans reimburse a portion.
For referring providers
If you are a therapist, psychiatrist, or physician referring an adult patient, I am glad to speak with you before the evaluation and, with a signed release, to coordinate directly afterward. Reports are written to be clinically useful to you, not only to the patient: diagnostic reasoning is explicit, and recommendations are specific enough to act on. Reach me at connect@drkuzirian.com.
A note on the practice name
Napa + Folsom Child Wellness began as a pediatric practice, and children and teens remain a large part of the work. Adult evaluations grew from parents who saw themselves in their children’s results and asked whether I could evaluate them too. The name stayed; the practice is now across the lifespan.
